Python in car gives man a heart attack

BATU PAHAT: A man found with a python constricting his left arm at the Batu Pahat Vocational College here is believed to have suffered a heart attack.

Zainal Abidin Daim, 59, was found unconscious inside his car on the college grounds at around 9pm on Friday.

Batu Pahat OCPD Supt Muhammad Izzudin Runggai said the victim, who worked as a driver at the college, had contacted his son about a snake inside the car.

“An initial investigation found that the son informed the police that his father had found a snake inside the car. The man wanted to pull the snake out but he is believed to have suffered breathing difficulties,” he said yesterday.

Supt Muhammad Izzudin said the victim died while seeking treatment and a post-mortem result showed his death was due to a heart attack.

In a separate incident, a 57-year-old teacher suffered injuries to her chest, abdomen and hand during an attempted robbery at a supermarket parking area here at around 8pm on Friday.

Supt Muhammad Izzudin said a man had approached the victim, who was in the midst of getting into her car, and tried to snatch her handbag.

The victim was rushed to the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital where she is in a stable condition.
