Court lets govt forfeit RM49mil

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court has allowed the Federal Govern­ment to forfeit nearly RM49mil from the bank accounts of Tan Sri Larry Low Hock Peng, father of fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho or Jho Low, a central figure in the 1Malay­sia Development Bhd scandal.Justice Mohamed Zaini Mazlan made the ruling here yesterday after deputy public prosecutor Aaron Chelliah informed the court that there was no third party present to stake a claim on the assets totalling about RM48,979,500.

Larry, who was named as the respondent, was absent and unrepresented in court.
