Azmin to Shamsul: Don't be a hypocrite

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Azmin Ali has told PKR information chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin to not be a hypocrite.

"Don't be a hypocrite," said the PKR deputy president on Tuesday (July 16) in Parliament before walking away from reporters.

This is in response to Shamsul's statement that political leaders and government officials who have been implicated in suspected wrongdoings should go on leave.

Azmin, who is Economic Affairs Minister, has been implicated in a sex video with former Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz.

On Sunday (July 14) night, Haziq and five other individuals were arrested by the police in multiple locations across the Klang Valley to assist with investigations under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

They were remanded for six days until July 20. Two of them are PKR members.

On July 13, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador said that the police were closing in on the “alliance” behind the sex video scandal.

Haziq was first detained at KLIA on June 14, and the police set up a special task force led by Comm Huzir Mohamed to investigate the case three days later.

Prior to this, Haziq confessed to being one of the two men involved in sexual acts in the video, and claimed the other was Azmin.

However, Azmin has categorically denied this.
