GEORGE TOWN: The fire and rescue department has discovered two victims at the construction site landslide in Batu Feringghi here.
State Works Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari, who was at the site, said the fire and rescue department is trying to extricate the victims.
Four workers are feared dead following a landslide at a hotel along Jalan Batu Feringghi.
Zairil claimed the owner of the hotel said he hired the four workers to construct a wall, and it collapsed.
Meanwhile, the rescue works has caused a traffic snarl along Jalan Batu Feringghi.
Earlier, it was reported that four foreign workers were believed to be buried alive in a freak land slide at a construction site in Batu Feringghi here.
A representative for the state fire and rescue department said there were four workers believed to be buried under the landslide based on witness statements.
"The incident took place around 9.21pm today (June 25) near Lost Paradise Resort along Jalan Batu Feringghi.
"The landslide occurred during works on a drainage construction, which was being dug out.
"We are currently sizing up of the scene to locate the exact location of the victims that are buried.
"Rescue works are underway," he said.
Earlier in a statement State Welfare, Caring Society and Environment committee chairman Phee Boon Poh said four Myanmar workers are believed to be buried under the landslide.
