Two motorcyclists collide, only one survives


JOHOR BARU: A motorcyclist died on the spot when he collided with another motorcyclist along Jalan Betik Utama in Taman Kota Masai here.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Ismail Dollah said police were notified of the incident at around 1.40am on Friday (May 31).

He added that the deceased had been identified as Khairulizam Mohd Saad, 40, and was on his way from Jalan Masai to Jalan Kongkong.

“The deceased collided head-on with another motorcyclist, S. Surendran, 25, who was coming from the opposite direction,” he said in a statement.

Supt Ismail added that the collision resulted in the victim being thrown off his motorcycle.

“Due to the impact, the victim rolled several times, causing him to sustain serious injuries to his head, body and feet.

"He died at the scene due to the injuries.

“The second victim escaped with some minor injuries on his head and face,” he said, adding that both the surviving victim and the deceased were sent to Sultan Ismail Hospital for medical treatment and post-mortem.

Supt Ismail added that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He urged those who witness it to come forward and contact the state police hotline at 07-2212999 or lodge a report at the nearest police station.
