Three teenagers feared drowned after going missing in Sarawak river

SIBU: Three teenagers are feared drowned after going missing while swimming in Sungai Nanga Tutus on Wednesday (May 29).

The missing three are Teerince Gong Tommy, 14; Nurul Syahiera Salam, 13, and Trisha Jangok Tommy, 12, from the Rumah Ligawa longhouse.

Acting Sibu Fire and Rescue Department chief Wan Kamaruddin Wan Ahmad said 10 firemen from the Sungai Merah fire station rushed to the scene at about 4.10pm in a boat to search for the victims.

He said they had to call off the search and rescue operation at 7pm on Wednesday as it was getting dark and added that it would resume at sunrise on Thursday (May 30)
