Pahang declares May 23 a state holiday, 40-day mourning period for Sultan Ahmad Shah


KUANTAN: Pahang has declared a state holiday on Thursday (May 23) to allow the people to pay their last respects to the late Sultan, Paduka Ayahanda Sultan Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah ibni Al Marhum Sultan Abu Bakar Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mu'adzam Shah.

State secretary Datuk Seri Dr Sallehuddin Ishak said members of the public could pay their respects at the Balairung Seri of Istana Abu Bakar in Pekan from Wednesday (May 22) night until 9am Thursday (May 23) while members of royal families, ministers and dignitaries would be allowed to do so beginning 11am Thursday.
