Pahang MB relieved project set to resume

KUANTAN: Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has expressed relief at the decision to resume the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project.

Welcoming the decision, he hoped that the suspended work could conti­nue as before.

“In Pahang, when the Federal Government announced the project’s suspension, the progress was already at 13% to 14%.

“It would have been a waste if this project was not continued,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Wan Rosdy said land acquisition work was already being handled by the state legal adviser’s office.

He said 1,394.4ha of land over a 232.5km distance across Bentong, Temerloh, Bera, Maran and Kuan­tan would be involved.

“Of this area, only 385ha is go­­vern­ment land while the rest are privately owned,” said Wan Rosdy.

“That is why we are pleased with the decision.

“Other than returning job opportunities, the project will surely bring huge economic spillover effects to the state once it is completed.”
