SEGAMAT: A monk has been remanded after two boys who attended his classes at a temple complained that he had performed oral sex on them.

The teenagers were attending classes at a temple where the 48-year-old monk has been staying since 2009.

Sources said that the monk had allegedly performed oral sex on the boys and the case came to light when the boys, who could not stand his abuses, lodged police reports over the past few days.

Police do not discount the possibility of more victims.

It is learnt that some of the abuses could have dated as far back as at least three years ago.

Segamat OCPD Supt Raub Selamat when contacted said that police arrested the suspect on Tuesday.

“The suspect will be remanded for five days until Sunday,” he added.

“Based on an early investigation, we found that the suspect has several criminal records related to sexual offences.”

Supt Raub said that the case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offence Against Children Act 2017.
