Semenyih assemblyman Bakhtiar Mohd Nor passes away

PETALING JAYA: Semenyih assemblyman Bakhtiar Mohd Nor (pic) passed away early Friday (Jan 11) morning, believed to be from a heart attack. He was 57.

The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) assemblyman's death was confirmed by Borhan Aman Shah, the political secretary to Selangor Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari.

"We regret to inform the death of Semenyih assemblyman Bakhtiar Mohd Nor who drew his last breath at 4.45am at Hospital Kajang, believed the result of a heart attack", said Borhan in a statement.

Bakhtiar's remains will be taken to his home at Jalan Sungai Lalang, Semenyih for prayers. He will be buried after Friday prayers today at the Kampung Pasir Cemetery.

In the 14th General Election, Bakhtiar defeated candidates from Barisan Nasional, PAS and Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) in a four-cornered fight, with a majority of 8,964 votes. He garnered 23, 428 votes. Bakhtiar was also Hulu Langat Bersatu division head.
