MB: Respect sanctity of Royal Institution always

Ahmad Faizal said he will be meeting NGOs to discuss how to create a more sustainable environment in Perak.

IPOH: Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu says the sanctity of the Royal Institution must always be upheld and no one must make disparaging remarks against any Ruler.

Responding to an online article that disparaged Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, who is the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the Perak Mentri Besar said: “Whether the Sultan is to be appointed Yang di-Pertuan Agong is under the Conference of Rulers.

“No one should make any comment that can affect the image of the Sultan.

“We must all respect this age-old tradition that is held once every five years.”

Ahmad Faizal was commenting on an online news portal which carried an article saying that Sultan Nazrin was not suited to become the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The Mentri Besar said at a press conference after opening the Layang Layang Flying Academy here yesterday that Sultan Nazrin was a Ruler who always had the interest of the people at heart.

“He also advises his state government well and we have very good working relations,” Ahmad Faizal added.
