Chief Secretary announces transfers, job designation changes in various govt ministries


PETALING JAYA: The Chief Secretary to the Government has announced staffing changes in various government ministries.  

Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Bakar said that the staffing changes were due to employees retiring or because their contracts had expired.  

“This reform is important for public service which plays a pivotal role as the backbone of nation-building.  

“I believe that these changes will strengthen the administration at the highest level in the ministries in the execution of duties and responsibilities,” he said in a statement on Friday (Jan 4).  

He added that the changes took into account the transfers (pusingan penempatan) among the secretaries-general of the ministries.  

The following is the list of changes in job designations:  

> Mohd Khairul Adib Abd Rahman, who was the former deputy secretary-general of the Transport Ministry, is now its secretary-general  

> Datuk Muez Abdul Aziz, who was the former deputy secretary-general in the Consumerism and Management Department in the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry, is now the ministry’s secretary-general.   

The following is the list of transfers to other ministries:  

> Dr Waitchalla R.R.V. Suppiah, the former deputy secretary-general of operations in the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry, is now the secretary-general of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.  

> Datuk Seri Saripuddin Kasim, who was the former secretary-general of the Transport Ministry, is now the secretary-general of the Federal Territories Ministry.  

> Datuk Dr Mohd Gazali Abas, who was the former secretary-general of the Education Ministry, now serves under the Home Affairs Ministry.  

> Datuk Dr Syed Omar Sharifuddin Syed Ikhsan, the former secretary to the Perlis state government, is now the secretary-general in the Education Ministry.  

> Datuk Sri Muhammad Shahrul Ikram Yaakob, who was the Malaysian representative to the United Nations in New York from the Foreign Affairs Ministry, is now its secretary-general.  

> Datuk Dr Tan Yew Chong, who was the secretary-general of the Water, Land and Natural Resources Ministry, is now the secretary-general of the Primary Industries Ministry.  

> Datuk Zurinah Pawanteh, who was the secretary-general of the Primary Industries Ministry, is now the secretary-general of the Water, Land and Natural Resources Ministry.  

> Datuk Isham Ishak, who was the secretary-general of the International Trade and Industry Ministry, is now the secretary-general of the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry.  

> Datuk Seri Alwi Ibrahim, who was the secretary-general of the Home Affairs Ministry, is now the secretary-general of the Works Ministry.  

> Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali, who was the secretary-general of the Youth and Sports Ministry, is now the secretary-general of the International Trade and Industry Ministry.
