DBKL to close HQ in view of anti-Icerd rally

MPs given two weeks to submit their choice of candidates to sit on the DBKL Advisory Board.

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has directed its departments at its headquarters in Jalan Raja Laut to close and staff to stop work on Saturday in view of the anti-Icerd rally.

It is learnt that an internal memo has been sent to all heads of departments within DBKL to close their offices at the headquarters on that day. It said all official DBKL vehicles parked at Menara DBKL 1 and 2 will also be moved to its Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department in Jalan Cheras.

This follows the green light by Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan for the anti-Icerd rally to proceed. The rally against the UN’s International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Icerd) will be attended by supporters from PAS and Umno.

Malay rights group Perkasa also said its members will attend the rally, scheduled from 2pm to 6pm.
