Thief nabbed just minutes after snatching handbag in front of SMK La Salle


PETALING JAYA: A 28-year-old snatch thief who stole a woman's handbag in front of a secondary school along Jalan Gasing was caught just minutes later by police on Tuesday (Oct 30).

A team of traffic police personnel were on patrol in the area at about 7.40am when they heard shouts for help from a woman in front of SMK La Salle.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said policemen saw the same woman chasing after the suspect who was holding her handbag.

"The Traffic policemen gave chase and managed to corner the suspect in front of a Buddhist temple nearby.

"We managed to apprehend the suspect and retrieved the victim's belongings," he said when contacted.

The suspect hailed from Baling, Kedah, he added.

"We will investigate whether the suspect has past criminal records," he said.
