SHAH ALAM: A total of 15 people, including seven foreigners have been detained in connection with the methanol poisoning case in Selangor, says Comm Datuk Mazlan Mansor.

The Selangor police chief said the 15 – eight Malaysians and seven foreigners – were premises owners and traders who sold alcoholic beverages.

"We are currently looking for the suppliers and wholesalers of the alcoholic beverages connected to the case.

"We won't rest until we find them," he told a press conference after attending the Selangor police monthly assembly on Tuesday.

Some 1,480 bottles of alcoholic beverages and 1,670 cans of beer had been seized following 17 raids in the state so far in the ongoing operation, dubbed Ops Methanol , Comm Mazlan added.

"We are still waiting for the full post-mortem report on the ones who died.

"The number of deaths in Selangor remains at 24," he said.

Comm Mazlan advised the public to remain vigilant and avoid consuming such alcoholic beverages for the time being.
