KUALA LUMPUR: Friends and family of the late Balakong assemblyman Eddie Ng have arrived en masse to say their final goodbyes.
The Xiao En Memorial Park in Cheras here was packed after countless well-wishers came to pay respects to the late politician on Tuesday morning (July 24).
DAP's Tony Pua, who spoke during the funeral proceedings, described Ng as a role model for future politicians.
“He was the perfect representative. He was on call 24 hours a day.
“Eddie, we will miss your can-do, never-say-die spirit,” he said.
Other representatives from DAP who attended were Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng and Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook.
Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof was also in attendance to pay his final respects.
The casket left the memorial centre at 11.30am. It is scheduled to reach the Xiao En Crematorium in Nilai at 1.30pm after a short stop in Balakong.
Ng is believed to have been on his way back to his service centre when his four-wheel drive vehicle slammed into the back of a lorry on the Grand Saga Expressway during at 12.40am on Friday (July 20).
Ng, 40, was killed on the spot, triggering another by-election in Selangor, the second one in some nine weeks since the May 9 polls.
The DAP assemblyman is survived by his wife and three children aged 13, 15 and 17.
