KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (pic) has been sworn in as an Opposition MP for the first time in his political career.
The Pekan MP took his oath at the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (July 16).
He arrived at around 9.45am at the Dewan Rakyat, wearing a black Baju Melayu and smiled at reporters before entering the Dewan.
Najib's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, however, was not seen with him. It is traditional to have spouses and family members invited to the swearing-in ceremony.
On his Instagram, Najib posted a cryptic message that Prophet Muhammad "forgave all, held no grudges, took no revenge and faced the world full of hate with a loving smile."
He posted it around 9.40am.
Before Najib, new Opposition chief Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi took his oath at 11.45am.
Dr Ahmad Zahid was the first to take the oath for Barisan Nasional lawmakers, followed by Najib.
