PEKAN: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak reminded his constituents to be wise in their choice and elect those who could bring benefits to them on his last campaign trail.
This was his main message when he met voters in his Pekan constituency for the last time before polling takes place today.
Najib, who is Barisan Nasional chairman, has been the elected representative for this constituency in Pahang since 1976.
During his session with Pekan's out-of-state voters, who were mostly youths, Najib reminded them to choose Barisan as it was a solid coalition with a good track record.
“The Opposition is the complete opposite of us (Barisan). While we are strong and united, their pact is fragile because there is no understanding among them,” he said.
Thanking the voters for returning to their hometown to cast their votes, he said this democratic process was not just about executing one’s responsibility to the country.
“This is also about deciding the future and destiny of Malaysia.
“By choosing Barisan, voters are making a choice for a better and more secure future for themselves and the generation after,” he added.
During a session with the fishing community in Kuala Pahang, the Barisan chief pointed out that the coalition-led government had proven to be a responsible one, assisting all levels of society, including them.
The Kuala Pahang fishermen have experienced transformation including “facelifts” for dilapidated houses, the construction of a new jetty, houses running on solar power and a centre for them to sell seafood produce and boost their income.
“Now, apart from a better income, fishermen here live in a more comfortable environment,” Najib said.
During a breakfast session with some 600 NGO veterans earlier, Najib said his journey as a politician would not have been possible without their support.
Describing their support as priceless, he said the responsibility he shouldered was never too heavy as the NGO veterans were with him all the way throughout the years.
