PETALING JAYA: Taxpayers who do not have Internet access to file their taxes online can do so via the e-Filing service counters from Friday (April 27) to Sunday (April 29) at the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) branches.
The IRB tax payment counter at the payment centres in Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching will be open during the weekend to assist taxpayers in completing their income tax return forms.
In Peninsular Malaysia, the IRB branches will be open from 9am to 5pm while those in Sabah and Sarawak will operate from 8am to 4pm.
In a statement Tuesday (April 24), IRB announced that taxpayers who do not have income from a business source have up to May 15 to submit their BE or M form for assessment year 2017 by e-Filing.
Taxpayers with a business income have until July 15 to submit form B or M for assessment year 2017 by e-Filing.
This extended deadline does not apply to manual submissions.
Those who are submitting the forms manually must do so before April 30 for individuals without a business income and June 30 for individuals with income from business sources.
"IRB calls on taxpayers to use the available facilities and ensure that their tax return forms are submitted before the deadline to prevent the late penalties," it said.
It added that as of 9am on April 24, the IRB has collected a total of 1.7499 million tax return forms from individuals taxpayers who have submitted it via e-Filing.
This shows that the amount of e-Filing submissions has increased by 5.52% compared with last year.
