KUALA LUMPUR: She was promised RM10,000 in prize money, but all she got for winning a beauty pageant was a rice cooker and some beauty products.

Liow Shin Ni, 24, who won a locally based beauty pageant, was then offered to go to the finals in Shenzhen, China.
