Court to decide on Tawfik’s suit on Thursday


KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court will deliver on Thursday its decision on whether to allow the application by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia and the secretary to strike out the suit by moderation advocate Mohamed Tawfik Ismail challenging a PAS Private Member's Bill.

The Bill, better known as RUU355, seeks to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 to give the court the power to mete harsher punishments for syariah offences.
