Four arrested after pre-dawn break-in attempt at pawn shop


IPOH: Four Chinese nationals were arrested after the alarm in a pawn shop triggered in Menglembu, near here.

During the 4.15am incident, police patrolling the area heard the alarm at the shop along Jalan Kledang go off, and alerted the shop owner.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Ali Tamby said the owner however told policemen that he was unable to see anything from the CCTV via his phone.

“So the policemen went to the back of the shop and found the door opened, and after checking the area saw several suspects running to the top floor of the shop.

“The patrolling team requested for back-up as three  of the suspects were on the roof of the shoplot.

“Another suspect was arrested as he was waiting inside a Toyota Avanza parked near the shop.

“Then about 4.45am, one of the suspects fell from the roof, and he was arrested, before the other two were arrested on the roof at the end of the shop lot with the help of the Fire and Rescue Department,” he said.

ACP Mohd Ali said  break-in tools, cash, gloves and two cars were seized from the suspects aged between 45 and 60.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for burglary.
