PETALING JAYA: Netizens are calling for harsh punishment against the man who was caught on video molesting a child at a funfair.

On Facebook Monday (Jan 22), Mona Wong said the act was despicable and the man should be severely dealt with.

Angela Lai said the perpetrator should be arrested and charged in court.

Meanwhile, Bz Jayz called for the man to be castrated while Kimmy Wong said that any punishment should be carried out in public.

In the video, uploaded on the Durian Media Facebook page, the child is seen seated on the lap of the man, while he repeatedly kisses her on her cheeks.

The man is also seen fondling the chest of the child beneath her red dress as loud music plays in the background.

The child's face is not censored in the video.

The post claims that the incident took place at a funfair in Taman Ria, Sg Petani at 11.30pm on Saturday (Jan 20).

Netizens also lamented that whoever had recorded the incident and uploaded it on Facebook did not take action against the man when the incident was discovered.

Ana VJ said she did not know what was worse - the perpetrator's act, or the act of the person who had filmed the video without taking action.

"What a sad world we live in. A sickening crime takes place and we record it for publicity," she posted.

Cindy Lnc meanwhile questioned the motive of the person who took the video.

"At least if he/she did (report the act), the kid would not continue to be molested. Why make it viral when you can at least do something about it," she wrote.

Police in Kedah have launched an investigation into the case and are tracking down the suspect after the victim's mother lodged a report over the incident early Monday.
