PUTRAJAYA: The Prime Minister says the Government will continue its commitment to empower women and give them a greater role – not only in society but also in nation building.
Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said while much has been done to push women's agenda, a lot more could be done to help them pursue their goals and dreams.
"There is no denying how important a woman's role is in our lives. In this era of globalisation, their role is even more crucial.
"So let us give them more room to grow so that the nation can advance too," he said at the launch of the Women Empowerment Year 2018 logo on Wednesday.
Najib pointed out the opportunity for women to gain greater empowerment does not only rest on the Government but the private sector as well.
Selangor Princess Tengku Zatashah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, co-founder and chief creative officer of Fashion Valet Vivy Yusof and celebrity Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor were named icons of the Women Empowerment Year 2018.
