Liow: BN component parties work as one

UMNO and other Barisan Nasional component parties such as MCA have always cooperated to ensure the well-being of all the communities in the country, said Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

This, said the MCA president, had been practised even before the country’s independence.

“MCA and Umno in Barisan have always fought for the country’s future for the sake of all races.

“Although we are race-based parties, we are not racists. This has always been our stand,” Liow told reporters after attending the Umno General Assembly.

Barisan, he said, observed the core value of mutual respect and emphasised harmony and consensus among its component parties.

“These are the values that have guaranteed the country’s future,” he said when congratulating Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on his “vibrant” presidential address.

He said Najib’s speech highlighted the importance the Government placed on a brighter future for the next generation.

“It was a very good and comprehensive speech in that it will not only spur Umno members, but also encourage component party members to rise up and be prepared to face the general election,” he said.

“The Prime Minister has also carved a bright future with good economic developments and TN50 (National Transformation 2050) so that we can all prosper together.”

MCA, said Liow, had prepared well for GE14 by planning programmes and training for its members.

“Most importantly for our constituencies, we are on the ground all the time to ensure our candidate is popular with the people,” he said.

On Jerusalem, Liow said it was not right for US President Donald Trump to simply make a decision due to the sensitive situation involving Palestine.

People’s Progressive Party president Tan Sri M. Kayveas said Najib’s message to the voters was clear.

“If you make a mistake in the next election, this country could be destroyed. You can see that the Opposition is only a leadership for personality and their own gain.

“So, it’s between giving power to one group and choosing the right government to take care of all Malaysians.”
