Child sex crime offenders? Brand them with a hot iron, says MP

KUALA LUMPUR: A Barisan Nasional lawmaker is suggesting that perpetrators of sexual crimes against children, especially incest, should be branded with a hot iron.

Datuk Ahmad Lai Bujang (BN-Sibuti) said such a punishment was fitting as the entire family suffers when incest is involved.

“May I suggest that the man who does such a thing ... we take a hot iron rod and brand him so he feels the pain and suffering of the victim,” said Ahmad Lai during the question and answer session in Parliament on Thursday.

However, Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Azizah Dun did not respond to the suggestion as the Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Datuk Seri Ismail Mohamad Said moved on to the next question.
