JOHOR BARU: MCA vice-president Datuk Dr Hou Kok Chung(pic) will be contesting in the Tebrau parliamentary seat in the coming general election.
Party president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai made the announcement during a dialogue session with Chinese non-governmental organisations here on Friday (Nov 10).
Hou and MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong were also present at the event.
Hou, the former Deputy Higher Education Minister, stood as Kluang MP for a term after winning the seat during the 12th general election in 2008.
However, he lost the seat to DAP's Liew Chin Tong in the last general election in 2013.
The Tebrau parliamentary seat is currently helmed by MCA's Khoo Soo Seang.
Khoo, 71, had indicated that he may not be contesting in the next election after resigning from his post as the Tebrau MCA division chief on Oct 1.
