World diving champ Jun Hoong wins 1m springboard individual gold

KUALA LUMPUR: World diving champion Cheong Jun Hoong was a class above the rest as she bagged the women's 1m springboard individual gold at the National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil.

The 27-year-old led from start to finish to amass a five-dive total score of 268.55 for Malaysia's fourth gold out of four events from diving on Sunday.

Jasmine Lai made it a 1-2 finish for Malaysia after coming in second with a score of 233.0 while Ngo Phuong Mai of Vietnam won the bronze with a score of 207.8.

The victory means Jun Hoong has now collected seven gold medals from eight Games appearances. She first made an appearance at the 2003 Hanoi games.

Ooi Tze Liang meanwhile won his second gold of the campaign after defending his 10m platform individual title.
