The baby born in a Grab car gets lifetime free rides

KUALA LUMPUR: The baby boy who was born in a Grab vehicle has been rewarded free rides for the rest of his life.

“IT’S A BOY! We’re overjoyed to hear that a baby was delivered in a Grab ride yesterday while on the way to the hospital.

“We couldn’t have been more proud of our driver-partner Grace who remained calm and brought both parents and baby safely to the hospital.

“To celebrate this joyous event, we are giving the baby a LIFETIME of FREE Grab rides,” the ride-hailing company said in a Facebook posting yesterday.

During rush-hour on Friday, 45-year-old Grab driver Grace Nesamani Raju had picked up a pregnant passenger from Bukit Bintang to Sentul Medical Centre.

She was accompanied by her husband and a woman friend for a check-up.

Grace, who has driven full-time with Grab for nearly four months, was caught in heavy traffic when the pregnant passenger started screaming.

“The minute I stopped the car at the entrance, the baby was already out, right in front of the hospital,” she said.

Nurses rushed over to cut the umbilical cord and took the baby and mother in for treatment.

Grab also said Grace would be rewarded for her efforts in delivering the pregnant woman to the hospital.

“We’re preparing something really special for Grace.

“From all of us at Grab, congratulations to the wonderful parents and their bundle of joy!”
