PUTRAJAYA: Plans are afoot to set up a national coordination and command centre to strengthen cybersecurity management and better tackle online threats.
While the proposal is still at an early stage, the authorities want the centre, to be known as NC4, up and running as soon as possible so that the country will be better prepared to deal with such issues.
The operations of the command centre were discussed at a high-level National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) committee meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi yesterday.
“The Government is serious in tackling cyberthreats that come in many forms.
“The time has come for NCSA to be the single agency that co-ordinates all efforts to manage such threats so that they can be dealt with effectively,” he said after the meeting.
In Johor Baru later, Dr Ahmad Zahid reminded Muslims not to engage in or be obsessed with extremist practices.
He pointed out that such practices would cause people to stray from the teachings of Prophet Muhammad.
“Malaysia is an example in the way we practise moderation within Islam to forge close relationships within a multiracial society,” he said in his speech during a buka puasa event with the public at Masjid Al-Mizan near Kempas.
