JOHOR BAHRU: The 11-year-old boy from a religious private school whose legs were amputated might now lose his right hand as it has also turned black due to an infection.

Update: Boy's hand showing signs of recovery

Johor health, environment, education and information committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat said Mohamad Thaqif Amin Mohd Gadaffie underwent a double leg amputation on Saturday to prevent the spread of the infection into tissues and blood cells.

He confirmed in a statement on Sunday that Mohamad Thaqif Amin had lapsed into a coma.

Mohamad Thaqif Amin's case became viral on social media after he experienced pain in his legs due to an alleged caning by an assistant warden.

It was reported on Sunday that an assistant warden from a private religious school in Lukut has been remanded for four days over the alleged beating of an 11-year-old pupil with a water hose. – Bernama
