PUTRAJAYA: The airport authority will hand over security camera footage and any other information to police investigating the murder of Kim Jong-nam allegedly by North Korean agents.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd officials would give their full cooperation.
“The matter is under police investigation so I will leave it to them and not comment further,” he said on the assassination at KLIA2.
On the motorcycle taxi service issue, Liow said the Cabinet has firmly shut the door on efforts to legalise the service.
He said the Cabinet decided that Dego Ride and any similar service should not be allowed to operate in this country.
“We have agreed that we need to ban this Dego Ride service. We do not want to create a road safety risk by legalising this type of service.
“We understand Dego Ride’s intentions ... but not in Malaysia,” he said.
Liow said the Government was transforming public transportation, especially with the building of an MRT to complement the LRT and monorail services.
“We are trying to complete this as fast as we can” to meet the needs of the people in urban areas, he said after the Cabinet’s weekly meeting yesterday.
Liow said the Road Transport Department (JPJ) has detained several riders operating under the Dego Ride service and that the operator has been called up to assist in investigations.
“I’m always open to meeting the operator, they can come and see me anytime.
“But we are firm on our decision. Public safety is of the utmost importance.
“We want them to stop operating immediately,” he said.
Dego Ride started operations in November last year; it takes bookings via WhatsApp.
It is similar to services that have sprung up in many South-East Asian cities, such as that provided in Indonesia by Go-Jek.
