Create a tsunami for the coming GE, says Hisham

UMNO members must channel the renewed wave of commitment and loyalty for the party into a “tsunami” for the coming general election, said its vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.

There should be no more doubts but to move forward, he said.

“There should not be any more questions. The war drums have been struck and the signal for battle sounded.

“Give full commitment and loyalty to the leadership to ensure that the wave today becomes a tsunami for the next general election,” he said in his speech at the closing of the Umno general assembly yesterday.

He said this year’s general assembly took place on a harmonious note.

“It is not far-fetched for me to say that we have managed to place the party back on the right track,” he added.

On loyalty, he said, Umno has only one captain and that its leader is Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who is Umno president and the Prime Minister.

Hishammuddin also drew members attention to a statement made by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad when he was Umno’s deputy president in 1976 on the importance of defending Umno.

“It was an accurate call but Tun, why is it today, when we express our loyalty to the leadership, we are despised?

“When we defend the president, we are condemned?” he asked.
