Insurance runner charged with supporting IS militants


KUALA LUMPUR: An insurance runner has been charged in a magistrate’s court here with two counts of giving support to a militant act involving explosive and possessing items related to the Islamic State terror group.

Fazar Nor Md Reduan was accused of providing support to an act of violence by using explosives with intent to extend an ideology and to threaten the public via Telegram app in his Samsung S4 handphone.

The offence was allegedly committed at a house in AU3/1, Ampang, Ulu Klang between April 1 and June 26 this year.

Fazar Nor, 32, also faces a second charge of having items which could lead to violent acts and related to the IS in front of Liberty Insurance Bhd in Taman Danau Kota, off Jalan Genting Klang here at about 1.20pm on June 28.

No plea was recorded and no bail was offered. Magistrate Siti Radziah Kamarudin fixed Sept 28 for mention.

Noor Syazwani Mohamad Sobry prosecuted while Fazar Nor was unrepresented.

Meanwhile at the Ampang magistrate’s court, unemployed Mohd Asrol Mohamad (pic), 29, was charged with giving support to a violent act involving explosive with intent to threaten the public in the country via Telegram app in his handphone.

The offence was allegedly committed at a house in Jalan Dagang 1/2, Taman Dagang in Ampang from March 25 to June 29 this year.

No plea was recorded and no bail was offered by DPP Goh Ai Rene before magistrate Haslinda A. Raof.

The accused was not represented.

The court fixed Sept 7 for mention.
