PETALING JAYA: Every relationship needs an occasional spark to keep it from entering a stagnant and mundane zone.
Part of that potential for having a fulfilling, long-term relationship comes from having a great sex life and yet couples often lose interest, feel disconnected, angry and resentful.
A frequent question thrown at sex and relationship coach Dr Oberdan Marianetti (pic) is: “How can we have great sex?”
“It is an important and difficult question. Sex and sexuality are central parts of our lives. Breaking or disrupting the flow of either is likely to have a negative impact on our work performance, our relationships or other aspects of life,” said the Singapore-based psychologist, who will be giving a talk on The Truth About Happy Relationships at the FitForLife KL 2016.
Talking about intimacy and sex, widely considered a taboo topic, also helps connect couples.
During the one-hour session with Dr Marianetti, visitors will learn some truths about happy relationships and a few strategies to breathe new life into theirs.
Among other areas Dr Marianetti will address are the pros and cons of pornography, a hotly debated subject – evil to some and a form of human expression to others.
Dr Marianetti said, “For many, the consumption of pornography happens in total secrecy, with a heavy sprinkle of shame and guilt. For others, it provides intriguing explorations to add to an existing, satisfactory sexual relationship. Assuming the consumption of pornography to be a conscious one, it can add a new layer of connectedness and intimacy.”
Many of these questions can be openly addressed and while there is no stigma or shame attached to discussing work, family or school, he noted that with questions about sex, there was very little resources to turn to for support and guidance.
“There probably are no right or wrong answers to any of these questions, but they certainly stimulate some reflection.”
If you feel the need to add some sizzle into your relationship, attend this highly anticipated talk on April 30 at 1pm.
