KUALA LUMPUR: All aspiring policemen will be subjected to psychometric tests to gauge, among others, dynamism and integrity, before they are recruited into the force.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the Malaysian Integrity Test (MIT) was a proactive measure to inculcate traits such as high performance, integrity and dynamism among its personnel.
“MIT is an assessment tool that has been developed by the police with the help of the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry,” he said after the MIT launch ceremony at the Defence Services Asia (DSA) Exhibition and Conference 2016 here yesterday.
The ceremony was launched by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also the Home Minister.
Police recruits, said Khalid, had been subjected to the tests since last year, adding that it was a good method for assessing a recruit’s work ethic and behaviour.
“This means that only those who are truly competent will be considered for recruitment, placement and promotion. These tests will also help identify leadership qualities and credibility,” he added.
