1MDB wants WSJ to remove misleading headline

PETALING JAYA: 1Malaysia Development Bhd has demanded that The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) immediately remove a misleading headline on one of its reports on its website.

It described as "an outright lie" the headline "Malaysian parliament inquiry finds billions of dollars have gone missing from state fund 1MDB, recommends criminal probe of senior management".

"This an outright lie as at no point the report suggested that any funds have gone missing from 1MDB nor was there any reference to a criminal probe," 1MDB said in a statement on Thursday.

1MDB claimed that the WSJ report instead recommended that enforcement agencies conduct an investigation into some of the company’s former management.

"We implore WSJ to immediately remove this misleading and false statement which has, once again, betrayed its biased and incorrect coverage about the company," the statement read.
