IGP: Bukit Aman on highest security alert

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman is on the highest security alert following several terrorist-related incidents in the last few months, with the latest attack occurring in Jakarta, according to Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pic).

The Inspector-General of Police said that police had also been stepping up measures to pre-empt such atrocities from happening in Malaysia.

“We have increased security measures at public places, including shopping malls and tourist spots.

“Extra precautionary measures will also be implemented at border areas to prevent possible infiltration by terrorist elements,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Those suspected of being involved in terrorist activities would be closely monitored, he added.

“We are closely monitoring the latest developments to ensure the safety and security of the people,” he said.
