Twins achieve identical exam results

JOHOR BARU: They may not be identical twins, but they still managed to obtain identical results for Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM).

Low Pei Shen and Pei Jeng from Maktab Sultan Abu Bakar (English College) here each obtained a CGPA score of 3.92.

Elder twin Pei Shen, 20, said they had been inseparable since they were children.

“But we did not expect to get the exact same points in our results,” he added.

Pei Jeng recalled feeling nervous before entering the examination hall last year.

“I have to thank my brother for helping out. Studying is more fun with my twin around because we can share our problems and find solutions together, whether it is about schoolwork or anything else,” he said.

The boys are active in their school’s Red Crescent Society and badminton, and they also enjoy playing online games.

However, their future is likely to see them go separate ways. Pei Shen, who aspires to be a chemist, said he planned to enrol in a Pure Chemistry course, while Pei Jeng hoped to study electrical and electronics engineering at a Singapore university.

Meanwhile, the school’s top scorer Asyrafil Iman Sari’at, who scored a 4.00 CGPA, revealed that he liked studying late at night when everyone else was asleep.

“It’s quieter and the weather is usually much cooler. I spend about three hours revising and doing past-year exam papers,” he said.

Asyrafil, who took Bahasa Malaysia, History, General Studies and Business Studies, wants to take up a course in linguistics.
