Jalan Travers now renamed to Jalan Rakyat

KUALA LUMPUR: The 300m stretch of Jalan Travers fronting Bank Rakyat's new headquarters is now known as Jalan Rakyat.

The name change was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (pic) in conjunction with the launch of the building, known at Bank Rakyat Twin Tower Thursday.

Jalan Rakyat starts from the Jalan Tun Sambanthan intersection to the intersection of Jalan Bangsar and Jalan Travers.

Najib said Bank Rakyat's achievements since it's inception 60 years ago has been impressive, growing from strength to strength every year.

"The fact that Bank Rakyat records a profit of RM2bil before tax and zakat since 2011 speaks volume of the bank performance," he said at the launch.

The Prime Minister also announced Bank Rakyat's personal loan scheme of up to RM50,000 with interest rate of 3.9%, with payment only to start six months after borrowing
