Najib arrives in Milan for Asem summit

MILAN (Italy): Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak arrived here for the 10th Asia-Europe Meeting (Asem) Summit.

The Prime Minister and wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor landed at Linate Military Airport here at 8.30am (2.30pm Malaysian time) Wednesday.

Themed "Responsible Partnership for Growth and Security", the two-day summit, beginning Thursday, will discuss inter-regional issues between Asia and Europe, covering political, economic and socio-cultural matters.

Asem was formed in 1996 as a forum for dialogue and cooperation between Europe and Asia.

Every two years, heads of state and government meet at a summit to set Asem's priorities.

Malaysia is the coordinator for Asean at this summit.

Najib, among others, will deliver a statement at the first plenary session.

He is also scheduled to participate in the Asia-Europe Business Forum and meet European leaders.
