Najib: We must establish the truth about the tragedy

PETALING JAYA: The Government owes it to the families of the 298 passengers and crew of Malaysia Airline Flight MH17 to establish the truth about the tragedy and is determined to bring to justice the person who “pressed the button” to bring down the plane.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said it was vital that Malaysian investigators who were sent to Ukraine on Monday gained full and unfettered access to the crash site to complete their work to find out the truth and recover all human remains.

“I urge all parties to work closely together to facilitate this investigation and the production of the final report. We owe it to the families who are in our thoughts today.”

In Putrajaya, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai reiterated Malaysia’s determination to find those responsible for shooting down MH17, and bring them to justice.

“Somebody pressed the button to shoot down the plane. We want to find out who that person is,” he said.

“We will try our best to find all the culprits and bring them to court.”

Liow stressed that Malaysia, with the help of international partners, including Australia and the Netherlands, will pursue the investigation to find the perpetrators.
