Haze (10pm update): Little change in unhealthy air


PETALING JAYA: The air in several areas in the country continues to remain unhealthy as at 10pm Tuesday with the worst-hit being Sibu in Sarawak.

According to the Department of Environment (DOE), Sibu recorded an Air Pollutant Index (API) of 127.

The other affected areas are Port Klang (118) and Petaling Jaya (97) in Selangor; Batu Muda (111) and Cheras (101) in Kuala Lumpur; and Samarahan (104) and Sri Aman (95) in Sarawak.

Other areas in the Klang Valley with close to unhealthy API reading are Banting (82), Kuala Selangor (76),  Shah Alam (88) and Putrajaya (70).

The rest of the country recorded good to moderate API readings.

An API reading of between 0 and 50 is considered good; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy; and 301 and above, hazardous.

According to the Department of Environment (DOE), Sibu recorded an Air Pollutant Index (API) of 136.

The other affected areas were Port Klang (121) and Petaling Jaya (102) in Selangor; Batu Muda (125) and Cheras (113) in Kuala Lumpur; and Samarahan (104) in Sarawak.

Other areas in the Klang Valley with close to unhealthy API reading are Banting (91), Kuala Selangor (75), Petaling Jaya (99), Shah Alam (89) and Putrajaya (91).

The rest of the country recorded good to moderate API readings.

KUALA LUMPUR: Air quality was at the unhealthy levels in nine areas in the country as at 2pm Tuesday with the worst-hit being Sibu in Sarawak.

According to the Department of Environment (DOE), Sibu recorded an Air Pollutant Index (API) of 145.

The other affected areas were Putrajaya (109), Batu Muda (132) and Cheras (117) in Kuala Lumpur; Banting (109), Port Klang (117) and Petaling Jaya (103) in Selangor; and Samarahan (106) and Sri Aman (104) in Sarawak.

The rest of the country recorded good to moderate API readings.
