Kulim Bandar Baharu MP: I am not a bankrupt

KULIM: Kulim Bandar Baharu MP Datuk Abdul Aziz Sheikh Fadzir is to settle all outstanding payments to a bank to set aside the bankrupt notice he received Tuesday.

He said the arrears involved an old case which took place in 2007 involving his family's company.

"I was only informed about the matter yesterday night and it involved my family company's failure to repay a bank loan. In fact, I am no longer in the business.
"However, since it involved me, I will settle it soon. I have contacted the bank," he told Bernama.

Abdul Aziz was commenting on the notice of bankruptcy made against him at the Kuala Lumpur High Court and, subsequently, went viral through news portals and social media.

The bankrupt notice was published in several local newspapers by the lawyer Alliance Investment Bank Berhad on Tuesday.

Abdul Aziz said, at present, he was still carrying out his normal duties as member of parliament and Kulim Bandar Baharu Umno division chief.

"As such, I urge the public and voters not to be influenced by the allegations that I have lost my status as a Member of Parliament," he added.
