Return mandate to BN to complete Maju Johor 2030 agenda, says Dr Wee

ISKANDAR PUTERI: The people should give mandate to Barisan Nasional in the upcoming Johor state election for the incumbent state government to complete its Maju Johor 2030 agenda, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president said under the leadership of caretaker Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Johor has seen extraordinary growth and development over the years.

He said the state has accumulated foreign direct investment value of RM272bil in the past four years and RM110bil was recorded in 2025 alone.

When the national gross development product (GDP) was 5.1% and 5.2% in the past two years, Dr Wee said Johor recorded a GDP of 6.4% for two consecutive years.

"This is no easy feat – this is the result of Onn Hafiz's leadership as a young, dynamic and capable leader who works for the people round-the-clock," he said in his speech at the launch of the Barisan machinery for the Johor polls at Educity Stadium here on Sunday (June 7).

"The Maju Johor 2030 agenda led by him began in 2022 and we are now at the half-way mark.

"We hope the people can give their support to Johor Barisan to complete the second half of the agenda" he said.

Dr Wee added that the state has even tackled issues that are under the Federal government such as Immigration clearance at the Causeway.

He added that the state government has shown a good example where it gave assistance to people of different backgrounds such as housewives, senior citizens, farmers regardless of race.

"I am confident that the rakyat will give mandate to Onn Hafiz, a leader who has strategic planning and is willing to listen to the people," he said.

Johor's state assembly was dissolved on June 1, paving the way for the 16th state election.

The previous Johor state election, held on March 12, 2022, saw Barisan taking 40 seats out of 56. Of the total, Umno took 33 seats, MCA won four and MIC won three.
