Ling’s son settles suit with ex-girlfriend

KUALA LUMPUR: The eldest son of the Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik has settled a civil suit with his former girlfriend over alleged breach of settlement agreement over assets.

Datuk Ling Hee Leong, 45, has settled his civil dispute against his former girlfriend Teh Chee Yen, 34, after he had testified at the High Court here.

Justice Hue Siew Kheng recorded the terms of settlement between the parties.

Ling’s lawyer R. Harikannan and Teh’s lead counsel L.K. Mak said they had settled the matter but the terms were confidential.

When questioned by Mak earlier yesterday, Ling had testified that their business and romantic relationship ended after Teh gave him an ultimatum to choose between wine and her after his brother’s birthday party.

Ling said he chose wine, causing their relationship to end.

In his suit filed in October last year, Ling said he and Teh had a business relationship and had in the past entered into various business transactions involving the acquisition of properties and also the setting up of several limited liability companies.

He said they had agreed to terminate their business relationship in January last year and venture in different directions for the future of their businesses and agreed to come to an agreement on the division of material joint investments.

In the defence, Teh said they were romantically involved for a period of four years until the end of 2011 and were headed towards matrimony.

Teh said that Ling had abruptly ended their relationship and married another woman shortly after.

She said that the abrupt and unexplained end to the relationship had caused her to suffer emotional stress and anguish.
