Thai to hang for carrying cannabis


Thitapah Charoenchuea (centre) , 36, or Jane , Passport No : G759756, of Khon Kaen, Thailand, who is believed a drug mule from Thailand was sentenced to death under Section 39B(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for trafficking in 18,383.4 grammes to the country in 2012 by Alor Setar High Court yesterday. ALOR SETAR: It’s the gallows for a Thai woman who was caught carrying more than 18kg of cannabis at an express bus terminal in Sungai Petani in February last year.

High Court Judicial Commissioner Mohd Zaki Abdul Wahab, in his judgment, said the prosecution had adduced evidence that 12 slabs of cannabis were found in a dark red-coloured luggage bag and another eight slabs inside a handheld bag carried by 36-year-old Thitapah Charoenchuea, from Khon Kaen, Thailand.
