GE13: Mahathir to ensure Government keeps its promises

ALOR SETAR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has promised to keep the Government in check and ensure it kept its promises to the people.

The former prime minister told a ceramah here that if the government failed to keep its promises in its manifesto, he would protest and fight it as he had done in the past.

“If the Federal Government doesn't do it, tell me. If they don't fulfil their promises, I will personally fight them,” said Dr Mahathir at the Kedah Barisan Nasional youth rally in Mergong near here.

Dr Mahathir also called for the sacking of Barisan members who contested as Independents, adding that they were impatient to become candidates.

“Isn't it something of a loss when you are sacked? If we are patient, wait a while, maybe we can be a candidate again but when you are sacked, you can't be a candidate,” he said.

Among those contesting as Independents from Barisan are former Wanita Umno deputy chief Datuk Kamilia Ibrahim who is standing in the Kuala Kangsar parliamentary seat, and former deputy minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shariff Omar in the Tasek Gelugor parliamentary seat.

Felda Adela Umno branch deputy chief Mohd Azaman Johari is also contesting the Pengerang parliamentary seat. - Bernama
