Suara Keadilan's publication stopped pending Home Ministry decision

PUTRAJAYA: The publication of Suara Keadilan has come to a halt as the Home Ministry has yet to decide whether to renew the PKR newsletter’s permit, which expired two days ago.

The ministry’s committee responsible for permit applications, which met on Thursday, was unsatisfied with the explanation given by Suara Keadilan’s editor Dzulkarnain Taib over the Felda Bangkrap article.

Its publications control and Quranic text division secretary Datuk Zaitun Ab Samad said until a decision was reached, Suara Keadilan could not be printed, adding an explanation letter from the newspaper was sent to the ministry at 12pm on Wednesday - the day the permit expired.

“The committee had met to view permit applications, not only just Suara Keadilan’s,” she said on Friday.

She added a letter had been sent to the newsletter’s office in Shah Alam on Friday informing them of the matter.

“The letter also list out issues which we find unsatisfactory and want them to answer to this,” she said.

“We will only consider the newspaper’s application to renew its permit after we have received satisfactory explanation from its management.”

Suara Keadilan had been given a show cause letter over a controversial article it had written on Felda in its recent publication. Earlier this year, the Home Ministry had issued three show cause letters to the newsletter.
