Johor abuzz with four-day marriage joy for prince

JOHOR BARU: The state is abuzz with the marriage of Tunku Bendahara Tunku Abdul Majid Idris Sultan Iskandar and former TV3 corporate communications manager Tunku Teh Mazni Tunku Yusof. 

The wedding between Tunku Abdul Majid, 35, the second son of the Sultan of Johor, and Tunku Teh Mazni, 26, would last over four days from Jan 12. 

More than 3,000 guests are expected to attend the wedding. They include Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and other Cabinet ministers from the republic. 

Tunku Teh Mazni: Ex-TV3 communications manager

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman and Cabinet ministers are also expected to attend the wedding. 

The ceremony is expected to start on Jan 12 with special prayers at Masjid Sultan Abu Bakar followed by the akad nikah (solemnising of marriage vows) at the same place the next day. A wedding reception will be held at the Istana Besar on Jan 14.
